Have you ever seen a car entering production before it's world premier? Skoda is just that quick, putting the new Rapid Spaceback into production even before its official motor show presentation in Frankfurt next month.
That's just showing you how much confidence the Czechs have in their latest product. And why wouldn't they. Sure, the Rapid Spaceback has lost some of its truck space, but it's probably going to be one of the cheapest and most practical cars in the compact hatch segment.
The first examples of the Rapid Spaceback just rolled off the line Yesterday at the Mlada Boleslav factory in the Czech Republic, the same place where the notchback sedan is made. Skoda says they had to add capacity to their factory to accommodate this car. New welding robots were installed during the summer shutdown. The Rapid Spaceback will actually be assembled on the same line as the Fabia.
“Our whole Skoda team, from purchasing, technical development, to production and logistics as well as quality assurance has once again done a great job to ensure that this start-up of an extremely important model for the brand was carried out reliably, to the highest quality and on time,” says Skoda Board Member for Production Michael Oeljeklaus.
