Skoda has reported a very good first half of the year, with excellent sales on all the markets where its products are available. The January through June period marked a 8.4% increase over last year’s numbers, with the Czech manufacturer shifting 493,000 units.
This nearly half-million figure is complimented by the company’s second best ever month, as they managed to sell 87,400 cars in June - 7,100 more than their previous year’s record. On western European markets, some of which have been in decline for months, Skoda have registered an very surprising increase, albeit small, of 1.2% in June, up 500 units from last year’s 35,100 record. Their other markets also registered increases, with eastern and central Europe recording a growth in sales of 2.7%, China growing by 5.5% and India registering a surprising growth figure of 39.3% with 3,200 units shifted.

Now that they’ve launched the affordable Rapid, a model which will definitely appeal to a lot of people, Skoda is set to keep growing, and with their very ambitious China plans under way, it looks like the Czech automaker has assured itself a significant place in the global auto industry.
