Skoda Rapid ‘Spaceback’ Speculatively Rendered

We have to face facts - the new Skoda Rapid, and the Seat Toledo, are cleanly-designed cars, which are rather boring and uninspiring to look at. They are classic in every sense of the word, not excelling at absolutely anything, in terms of styling appeal.

However, if Skoda was to ditch the sedan rear end, and make it look like more of a ‘fastback’, then perhaps it would boost its appeal and attract some more style-conscious buyers into the Skoda showroom. With inspiration taken from the Vision D concept, the Rapid has been made to look like a proper hatchback/fastback, or ‘spaceback’.

The large rear window is steeply-raked, and gives the car a totally different look and feel to the sedan. It is also more compact, lighter and easier to park - the sedan would be more suitable for people who also travel outside of town, and carry lots of bags, but for people who just need a reliable compact city runabout, this would be by far the better choice.
