Skoda Rapid Gets UK Pricing

The recently-unveiled Rapid, a compact sedan which aims to take a large chunk of its specific market sector for Skoda, has just received its official pricing information. Its base price is £12,900 and it rises to £17,850 for a top spec model, called ‘Rapid Elegance’.

Under the bonnet, customers have the choice between 1.2-liter normally-aspirated unit, which produces just 74 hp (an engine we don’t really recommend in this car), a turbocharged 1.2-liter unit with either 85 hp or 105 hp, and VW’s 1.6-liter TDI diesel unit, with 105 hp.

In its most basic S trim, the Rapid gets remote central locking, DRLs, front electric windows and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. Move up to SE, and you get 15-inch alloys, air-con (which is not standard, strangely), leather-wrapped steering wheel and Bluetooth connectivity.

Opt for the range topper, the Elegance, and the rims grow to 16 inches, and the car gains fog lamps, cruise control, rear electric windows and a height-adjustable passenger’s seat. The Rapid goes on sale in the UK on November 12th, and it is interesting to see how well it does, considering the apparently dysfunctional relationship between Brits and sedans, which is why they are not getting the new Dacia Logan.
