Transformers robots might seem as American as gun festivals and rednecks in pickups, but the franchise was created by the Japanese at Takara Tomy, who collaborated with Hasbro on a toy line in 1984.
When Michael Bay started making the movies, GM got in on the action in order to promote its product lineup. In a modern day take on Nascar, box office victories on Sunday meant sales on Monday for the Corvette, Camaro or the GMC truck. There have, however, been a few European cars in the movie – Bugatti, Ferrari, Audi and Mercedes – but never an underdog vehicle playing a major role.

With just about every family from Moscow to Madrid having looked at buying a Skoda Octavia at least once in their life, this is the perfect unsung hero to play a major role in defending Europe form the terror of the Deceptions.

We can almost see it: frozen fray Skoda Octavia, Autobot badges on its front and rear. The baddies appear and the Czech machine pops into gunship model, lasers coming out of its headlights.

We're not sure when the next alien attack will be, but the Russian car wrappers at Re-Styling though they'd better play it safe and have protected the Octavia's precious paint using frosty matte film, so it's at least safe from paint chipping.
