Skoda Launches Fabia Combi Monte Carlo

We've just met Lord Vader's Skoda van, but that's not the only thing that Skoda unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show this week, and again it's a Fabia-related model.

The Fabia is still one of our favorite superminis, mainly because it's not actually that mini. The range of models includes everything from the ultra cheap and basic 1.2-liter three-cylinder cars to the vRS, a 180 PS rocket.

In 2011, the Czechs launched the Monte Carlo package for the regular Fabia. This gave the car a cool look akin to that of the vRS at a lower price and in combination with more economical engines.

Today, Skoda has announced a Monte Carlo version of the Fabia Combi is available as well. The Fabia Combi Monte Carlo is available with a number of engines from the range, though we expect the pick with be the 1.2-liter TSI with 105 PS. You'll have to wait for the brochure to know for certain, but we think the only transmission option on the Monte Carlo will be the 5-speed manual.

If you're into relaxed strolls, don't buy this car because it comes standard with the optional sport suspension and black 16" Comet design alloy wheels (17" will probably be available as well).

The body of the car is set apart by the tinted headlights, the slightly redesigned bumper with new fog lights and black grille. The windows are also tinted and the car's roofline ends as a large integrated rear spoiler. The Fabia Combi Monte Carlo comes in eight colours: Corrida Red, Brilliant Silver, Candy White, Black Magic, Cappuccino Beige, Sprint Yellow, Steel Grey and Race Blue.

Inside, you get sports seats in two-tone cloth and 3 spoke steering wheel, emergency brake handle and gearshift knob feature perforated leather and red stitching.

The Fabia Combi Monte Carlo is a good looking wagon, but don't forget it can also carry 500 liters of your stuff. We straggly to think of any other car in the B segment that can do that.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
