We're not 100% sure these photos are the real deal, especially since the Kodiaq isn't supposed to come out for another two weeks, and they appear to have some "fuzziness." But they at least match the recent teasers and offer us a complete look at the biggest SUV yet developed by Skoda.
Just like with the Superb, it feels like there's a lot of SEAT design language hiding under the skin. If the Spanish ever get approval to borrow the 7-seater, the transformation will be really cheap to make.
While the rear is Spanish, the profile is very German. Just like the Tiguan II, the Kodiaq will feature a powerful crease down the whole profile.
The cheap Audi Q7
The VW Passat is sometimes called a cheap Audi, and now the Kodiaq is being described by the Internet as a Q7 on a shoestring. That cold be down to the gentle slope of the roof. However, the SEAT Leon ST has the same thing, and so do many wagons (Megane, Focus).
Besides the photos, Czech website Auto Forum also got its hands on some of the initial specs. According to them, the 5-seat version of the crossover will have a maximum storage capacity of 2,165 liters with the last row folded down. That's about the same as the Superb Combi, so we're not blown away. With all seven seats up, the total capacity will be 270 liters, so about the same as a Polo.
From one bumper to the other, the Kodiaq will measure around 4.7 meters, and it will feature a 2.78-meter wheelbase, slotting between the Octavia and Superb.
We're more curious what will happen to the Yeti now. However, there's a sneaking suspicion that it will be shrunk to the size of the SEAT Ateca, which is 4.3 meters long.
The Kodiaq is clearly the most upscale crossover conceived by Skoda, and it will even feature the adaptive damper system or advanced lane-keep assist you usually only see on Volkswagens.
