Skoda Denies Sports Car Plans

Here’s a new episode of the sports-cars-don’t-make-money never-ending story: Skoda has recently made it clear that it will not build an affordable sports car and will instead continue to give us volume models, as autocar writes.
Speculation about the Czech company building such a model began this summer, when Skoda introduced the topless Fabia vRS S2000 sports car concept at the Worthersee show. However, like we said, Skoda has other plans - the company wants to double its 2011 sales to 1.5 million units in 2018, and the company will focus on maintream vehicles in order to achieve this.

However, Skoda will release new vRS hot version of its cars, with the next one coming for the MissionL concept that has recently debuted at the Frankfurt Auto Show, as well as one for the VisionD concept, which came to the world at the Geneva Auto Show.

But this is where the story stops for now, as the Superb will not get such an incarnation, due to the fact that Skoda considers that the vehicles character isn’t compatible with that.

Well, if you ask us, such a car would be interesting, since it would create a new niche. Oh wait, that probably wouldn’t sell...
