The Skoda Rapid sedan has now officially entered production. It is being made at Skoda’s home factory, in the Czech town of Mlada Boleslav, as the manufacturer is getting ready for the Paris Motor Show.
The Rapid is a small Fabia-sized sedan which Skoda hopes will build upon the massive success of the Octavia, being a car for those who need something smaller and cheaper than an Octavia, but don’t really want to sacrifice too much space or practicality in the process.
It is available with a very wide range of VW-sourced engines, which kicks off with the 1.2-liter 75 hp petrol engine and ends with the 1.4-liter TSI which puts out 122 hp. Diesel fans will be able to opt for the 1.6-liter TDI engine, in various states of tune.
Pricing is yet to be announced, but being a Skoda, we expect it to be unrivaled in the price/quality ratio - its main selling point.
