Skelta Comes to Europe

If you’ve ever seen one of these babies in Europe, there’s a good chance it’s the only one, as these Australian made cars are not pretty, nor cheap. But they do have one important quality: The Skelta can really go around a track.

The good news is that both models have made their way to Europe. The G-Force is the one with a detachable targa top and costs about £66,000, while the Spyder version starts at £99,000. They’re both equipped with a supercharged Honda 2.0 VTEC producing 340 bhp. There’s also a 3.0 Hartley V8 engine on offer that pushes out 460 bhp.

This is a lot of money for such a car, but its creators insist that this car is track ready and good to “clean up in GT racing”. So it might be of interest for some.

Most road-going competition cars require a myriad of costly upgrades to make them fully competitive," says a news release from the importer, Skelta Racecars Europe. "The super-light, ultra-tough Skeltas, on the other hand, leave the factory with all the power, handling and braking they require to win out of the box.

This extensive use of strong but lightweight materials results in a dry weight of a mere 720kg,” the company says. The 50/50 weight distribution and the 200kg of downforce exerted at 140 km/h probably add up into some great cornering. All European cars will be built in Toowoomba, Australia.
