Edmund's recently put together a top of the best supercars of all time, and by all time they actually mean the best in the context of their own eras, since there are also cars from way back in 1910 on their list.
As it was expected by pretty much any sane supercar aficionado out there, there are also a number of Mercedes-Benzes from over the years in the top. Six of them, to be more specific, and one of them even reached the top ten of the hundred-long list.
In 95th place we find the CLK-GTR road car from 1998. With a mid-engine V12 and just 25 units ever made, it is one of the most exclusive Mercedes-Benz you built in the last couple of decades.
Higher up, in 88th place there's the SLR McLaren, which was heralded as a true Silver Arrow for the 21st century. Made in collaboration between Mercedes-Benz, AMG and McLaren, it was the last ever project that Gordon Murray ever worked on at McLaren.
The SL 65 AMG Black Series (R231) is in 55th place in the Edmund's top, not the greatest spot for the most powerful production Mercedes-Benz in history. Built in a limited production run from 2008 until 2012, it has a massive 6-liter, twin-turbocharged V12 with an output of 670 hp and an electronically-limited torque of 1000 Nm (738 lb ft).
Higher up, in 52nd place, we find the current SLS AMG, the first model entirely developed by Mercedes-Benz' tuning arm, AMG, independently.
The 540K Spezial Roadster from 1937 is only in 40th place, which is a bit odd considering its performance, looks, exclusivity and the fact that it was probably one of the very few defining supercars of the 1930s.
The only Mercedes-Benz to reach Edmund's top ten is the gorgeous 300 SL from 1954. The original Gullwing Mercedes, at the time of tis launch it was the fastest production car in the world.
