Sinister Black 1955 Ford COE Is the Monster in the Rearview Mirror

In the world of custom garages cab-over-engine trucks are a special breed of project. COEs, are they are called, are a tad more pretentious that other vehicles in terms of customization needs, but when one is done right, it sure is a sight for sore eyes.

Even though it has been around for about as long as motorized machines themselves, COEs never became particularly popular for civilian use. Some carmakers tried to make them stick a few decades ago at no avail, so the only COEs we get to see now on a regular basis on the road come in the form of the much larger fire or garbage trucks.

There are some made for civilian use still out there that can be easily used to impress at an auto show or on the road, and we've talked about a bunch of them as part of our various monthly coverages. The 1955 Ford we have here is sure one of them, although it does have a scary appearance to it.

That is mostly due to the shiny black paint sprayed all over the body, a color that is certain to make the truck a sight to behold, especially in the rearview mirror on a dark road at night.

Looking muscular thanks to the massive 22-inch wheels and the bulging fenders, the truck does not only look menacing, but it also acts like it. That’s due to a big 6.0-liter LS V8 engine fitted under the hood, of unspecified power but certainly enough to match the thrills caused by its looks.

We found this Ford COE, titled Ford C500, on a specialized website, awaiting for a buyer. Despite the only $17,000 the owner says they invested in the truck over the past few years, the asking price is very far away from that: $104,995 is what the price sticker reads.
