Simona de Silvestro to Secure 2011 Indy Seat with HVM

Simona de Silvestro is on the verge of securing her second consecutive full campaign in the IndyCar Series, after it was announced that HVM Racing will hold a press conference on Monday to announce details on the racer's future plans.

The Swiss driver debuted in the North American series with HVM last year, having contested in 17 rounds. Just before Christmas though, team boss Keith Wiggins had told the media that a good sponsorship scheme is on its way to being set up for Silvestro in order for her to do a new season with HVM.

We've signed a multi-year agreement with a sponsor to secure Simona's future,” Wiggins told speed.com, at the time, suggesting that the 22-year old driver could spend another season in the HVM garage.

During her first campaign in the IndyCar Series, Simona de Silvestro impressed the audience during the Indy 500 race, after qualifying 22nd on the grid and finishing in 14th place. For that performance, she was given the Rookie of the Year award at the end of the race. Further highlights included two Top 10 finishes, both in Canada, at Edmonton and Montreal.

The Thun-born racer has already gotten used to driving single-seaters in the US, as she completed back-to-back campaigns in the Atlantic Championship in 2008 and 2009. Driving for Newman Wachs Racing's Nuclear Clean Air Energy/Entergy team back in 2008, she became the second female racer to score a win in the history of the championship, at Long Beach.
