The Silver Lake sand dunes provide a lot of fun to trophy truck enthusiasts, who gather to see several vehicles flying through the sky in attempts to beat gravity as much as possible.
As in any competition, sand dune jumping is about establishing records as well, and Mike Higgins latest try set a new standard with no less than 180 feet. However, Higgins was more than lucky to survive his attempt, as the jump left his modified Ford trophy truck nearly broken in half.
Though a bit shaken by the rough landing, the driver jump right under the truck to assess the damage. “As soon as I left the ground I knew the truck set off wrong and I knew I was in trouble”, he said.
