Silly Quad Rider Hits the Only Rock on the Plateau, Crashes Hard

We've all seen this: a vehicle operator (this time he;s a quad rider) hitting the only obstacle to be seen on an enormous area. Sometimes it's the only car in the parking lot, on other occasions is the only rider on the road... this time it's the only boulder on a wide plain. The result? Obviously, a hard crash.
We fail to understand the process: how can this guy choose to crash into that very boulder? There's place for another 50 ATVs to swarm out there without even touching one another... and yet the guy rides straight to this large rock.

Some say that he probably believed it was just a patch of grass. Well, even it was... did he necessarily have to ride into it? And since when the presence of grass excludes the possibility that a boulder existed right next to it? These questions will surely remain unanswered, so seeing the guy unhurt should just have to do...
