How does a ban on riding the motorcycle or scooter at night sound? Utterly stupid, right? Now think about some politicians who are thinking of passing such a law...kind of stupid, too, isn't it? Well, not quite, since such news do come from Venezuela.
Wide-spread, peaceful protests have troubled the Venezuelan capital of Caracas, against a possible regulation which would ban riding a motorcycle or scooter after 9pm.

Around 2,000 motorcyclists protested in Caracas past Friday, and handling a letter to the National Institute for Terrestrial Transport, expressing the massive opposition such a regulation has in the popluation of the city.

Just like in similar cases, the local authorities claimed that the night riding ban will help curb the criminality.

The ban has a very powerful negative impact on the "motorizados", both motorcycle taxi drivers and couriers. According to Reuters, the protesters also said than "the new rule contravened their right to work and move about freely, and that students and low-paid laborers who could not afford to hire cars would not be able to find transportation."

Seriously I ponder which night is more dangerous: the one on the streets of Caracas or the one inside the head of the fellows who came up with this law.
