Silence, an aptly named provided of zero-emissions urban mobility from Spain, is just about ready to expand across the UK market starting this month, bringing over its innovative electric moto scooter family of vehicles.
Just like in other crowded urban areas of Europe, two-wheeled transport is steadily on the rise in the United Kingdom. Now the country is also seen as ready to undergo an electric revolution, thanks to changes in consumer views and official regulation.

The latest brand to adhere to the new zero-emission atmosphere is Silence, a promoter of all-electric e-moto scooters that’s been around since 2012. Initially founded in Barcelona, Spain, the company has been steadily expanding in other countries since 2019, and the first month of 2021 will see it establish its first outpost in the UK as well.

The UK transportation market is changing at an unprecedented pace; the launch of the Silence family of class-leading electric moto scooters meets the demands of consumers and companies on so many levels. The Silence brand is cool, the products are even cooler – simple, smart, clean and beautifully designed,” explains John Edwards, one of the co-founders of Silence UK.

The company has patented and manufactures its own batteries and BMS (Battery Management System), with the lithium-ion assembly featuring a click-and-go release system and an “innovative patented trolley system to allow charging to take place at any 240V socket.” The range consists of just two models: S01, S02, but the latter comes in three variants – S02, S02 LS, and the S02 LS Long Range.

According to the company, the S01 (a.k.a. The Commuter) is the equivalent of a regular 125cc scooter or motorcycle, rocking a 5.6kWh battery pack and a 7kW (9kW peak power) electric motor for a zero to 30 mph (48 kph) sprint in 3.9 seconds, a 62 mph (100 kph) top speed, and range of up to 80 miles (129 km).

It’s also the most expensive option at £4,995 (around $6,805 at the current exchange rates), followed by the S02 and S02 LS Long Range (a.k.a. The Professionals – models aimed at the delivery market). The latter models range from £3,595 to £4,695 ($4,897 and $6,396), respectively. The entry-level option is the S02 LS (low speed), with an asking price of £2,695 ($3,671).
