On September 13th, Kia will take the veil off the most exciting car in its lineup after the Stinger. Enter the ProCeed, which isn’t a three-door hatchback as the Pro_cee’d from the previous generation. Inspired by the Proceed concept, the newcomer is a shooting brake with five doors, seating for five people, and a large trunk.
Bridging the gap between the hatchback and station wagon, the ProCeed also borrows some of the know-how used by Hyundai for the i30 Fastback. And just like the Ceed GT close-but-still-hot hatchback, the prettiest body style will be available with a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder sending approximately 200 horsepower to the front wheels.
Kia says the ProCeed will benefit from “an unparalleled combination of design and versatility,” and as it happens, the South Korean automaker developed and engineered this fellow “exclusively for Europe." Because the Ceed and Forte are joined at the hip, we’re hoping the ProCeed will make it to the United States of America at some point in the future, although under a different name.
To be revealed on September 13th, the 2019 Kia ProCeed will then… uhm, proceed to make its world debut at the Paris Motor Show on October 2nd. In other words, first deliveries are scheduled for the first quarter of 2019. Like any other member of the Ceed family, the Žilina manufacturing plant in Slovakia is where Kia will build the ProCeed.
As you can tell from the teaser photo published by Kia, the PROCEED badge is located on the tailgate, right under the manufacturer’s insignia. The full-width light bar connects the taillamps, which feature a similar design to the hatchback and station wagon. And from the looks of it, the taillamps make use of full-LED technology.
The broader bumper complements the roof-integrated spoiler and shark-fin antenna, giving this family hauler a sportier character than what you would expect from such a car. The ProCeed GT will be the sportiest of the lot, featuring upgraded brakes and suspension at every corner.
