Remember when we told you about the young Detroit-based company that is trying to bring back the flavor to the city that once was the world’s automotive center? Well, Shinola is now back with a new product, only this time it’s not a limited edition pocket watch, but a luxury single-speed luxury bicycle.
As we were telling you a couple of months back, when the young company released their second timepiece in the Shinola Great Americans Series, it was a strategic decision to base the headquarters and factory in Detroit. The company’s headquarters and watch factory are housed within the College for Creative Studies on the fifth floor of the Alfred A. Taubman Building in Detroit, a former automotive research lab.

Dedicated to producing American-made products, including watches, bicycles, leather goods and other, most of Shinola's employees come from the auto business that once made the city glorious among car manufacturers.

Getting back to the their first single-speed luxury bike, Shinola claims it’s streamlined for urban riding and hand assembled by the company’s specialists.

Dubbed the Detroit Arrow, the two-wheeler is available in black and white color options, in both men’s and women’s frame styles. Put together by hand, it comes with a Shinola leather saddle, cork grips, fenders, chain guard and a bell. According to its creator, the Detroit Arrow features a new TIG-welded TrueTemper steel frame design, manufactured at Waterford Precision Cycles in Wisconsin.

The Detroit firm’s logo appears as a custom leaser-cut rear dropouts that feature the Shinola “S”, which matches the same “S” detail cast in their proprietary fork crown. Priced at $1,000 the bicycle joins some other unique high-end products such as their leather accessories collection and journals.
