Those of you who have serious experience with cars that pack three pedals know that, once things go past, say, 300 hp, dealing with the clutch becomes a bit more difficult.
Well, how about shifting gears in a machine that has 2,000 ponies? This is precisely what happens in the video below, which shows us a twin-turbo Lamborghini Gallardo with a stick.
And the gear-changing action is handled superbly, as the Raging Bull sets a new world record for manual Lamborghinis. The boosted supercar attended the WannaGoFast 1/2 Mile Shootout in Clayton, GA, where it managed to deliver a trap speed of just over 221 mph (make that 355.8 km/h if you're a fan of the metric system).
The Sant'Agata Bolognese beast had been gifted with a twin-turbo package coming from Underground Racing, with Moe, its driver, managing to make the most out of the setup - try to imagine yourself in his driving shoes as the car needs to be taken off the line. Once that delicate moment is left behind, the gated setup of the Gallardo does provide a bit of help, though.
Gallardos packing this level of heat at the event mentioned above could've passed 225 mph (362 km/h), but that's when using sequential transmissions, which are the racing world's favorite units (dual-clutch trannies aren't excluded, though, with Underground Racing having recently set a new record in the field, this time using a Lamborghini Huracan).
As with most, if not all cars that have been touched by Underground Racing, this is a machine that has kept its street-legal status. Even so, navigating your way through the morning rush hour in such a Gallardo is probably one of the most memorable things you can use the car for. At the same time, such an adventure would also allow you to silence Shelby GT500 or Hellcat drivers who brag about the third pedal abilities.
P.S.: The video also takes us inside the car and we have to tell you that the soundtrack of the stick action is not for the faint-hearted. You've been warned.
