It is likely that no one truly knows how many times the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has been rendered into something else. As for the latest digital take on the sixth-generation pony car from the Dearborn company, it imagines it as a very powerful estate.
Dubbed the Shelby Super Wagon by jlord8 on Instagram, its creator, it looks ready to hit the drag strip shortly after dropping the kids at school. It has a slightly modified nose, with a new bumper, tweaked headlights, and double nostrils on the hood, and then some.

The front doors have become shorter in order to make room for the rear ones, it has a much longer roofline that is slightly arched towards the rear, and appears to sport more inches between the axles, for improved rear legroom. Also, since it is now a wagon, it has a big cargo area behind the rear seats. It would have been interesting to see the back end, with its tailgate, but sadly, the rendering artist drew the line at a single picture.

Since it builds on the normal Mustang Shelby GT500, from the outgoing generation, the Super Wagon digital proposal would obviously retain its firepower, namely a supercharged 5.2-liter V8. The engine is good for 760 hp and 625 lb-ft (847 Nm) of torque, working in concert with a seven-speed DCT, and rear-wheel drive. The muscle car needs only 3 seconds from rest to 60 mph (0-97 kph) and can deal with the quarter-mile in around 10 seconds.

On a final note, we will remind you that the sixth-gen Mustang, which has been around since 2014, is about to be replaced. Its successor is due at the Detroit Auto Show, on September 14, and it is expected to launch with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, and the 5.0-liter V8, at first anyway.
