Dinosaurs are extinct, but snakes aren't and that proves the Super Snake is automatically better than both the Raptor and the TRX. Plus, who needs arms on lizards when you can have deadly venom and the ability to strike with lightning speed?
But seriously, we're all doing the whole performance truck thing all wrong. Everybody is putting 37-inch tires and off-road suspension on their rides just to shoot a YouTube video and do some drag racing. And for all that, the older sports trucks with lowered suspension and sticky tires were better.
The Super Snake is a special kind of Shelby, and we think it's one of the coolest trucks, even after the TRX came out. It's got the manly front end, the racing stripes, and the beastly supercharger sounds that accompany 770 horsepower. Yeah, build quality isn't as good because it's based on the older F-150, but it's rare, collectible, and different from all the high-riders.
This creative rendering from Chopping_pixels attempts to create a more practical version of the Super Snake by turning it into an SUV of sorts. It's only got one door on the side we're seeing, but is supposed to have "two extra seats." So it's a bit like the Broncos of the 80s and early 90s.
Ford does have some performance-oriented SUVs. For example, the Explorer ST is fitted with an EcoBoost 3-liter pushing out 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. That's not far off from the output of a Raptor. But this rendering feels like it's more along the lines of the VelociRaptor SUV.
That's right, there used to be an SUV version of Hennessey's famous modded Raptor. Back in 2013, this came with a 600 horsepower version of the Ford V8 engine thanks to some nifty supercharging. They only made about 30 of them and they cost $150,000. Not many people remember this vehicle, so we included a walkaround video at the bottom of this story.
