The standard 2013-2014 Shelby Mustang GT500 5.8-liter V8 engine aluminum block is now available for individual purchase from Ford Racing Performance Parts.
100 pounds (45 kgs) lighter than the cast iron 5.4-liter mill block, the aluminum block comes pre-finished and assembly-ready at $5,600. According to Ford Racing, its unique liner coating provides improved durability and reduced friction when compared to the Ford GT aluminum block.
Listed as part number M-6010-M58A at Ford Racing, the GT500 aluminum block sounds like the perfect deal for any Ford/Shelby Mustang project car, either for road or dragstrip use.
