Sheby Automobiles Sponsors NASCAR

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series on the 1st of March 2009 will be sponsored by Shelby Automobiles. In a truly American way, the constructor will make a Limited Edition Shelby 427 package for the Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang. In addition to this, the race will be lengthened to 427 miles, which is approximately 18 laps.

LVMS made the announcement at SEMA on the 5th of November. “We are ecstatic to have the legendary Shelby name on our 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup race,” Powell said. “It’s a tremendous opportunity for us to give added exposure to the Shelby brand that has, over the years, become synonymous with the best in high-performance cars.”

In addition to the one-year race sponsorship, Shelby will market a Las Vegas Motor Speedway Limited Edition Shelby 427 package for the owners of 2007 and 2008 GT500s with the post title Super Snake. These people can buy the limited edition “pace car” upgrade on a e-mailing race-contest (the first ones to send the mails win).
Even you can send a mail to [email protected]. Shelby lovers can order the 427 package by emailing [email protected]. The upgrade will include Carroll Shelby's personal autograph as well as “many other event-related add-ons”(we're not sure exactly what that means). Only 427 of theese packages will be available for purchase.

In an effort to out-sale McDonald's promotions Shelby offers special race tickets and the opportunity to serve as the race's honorary starter.

If you fancy a race weekend be sure to be there on the 27th of February for the Shelby 427 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series to be continued on the following day with The Sam's Town 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race.
