French manufacturer Shark expands the 2015 helmet line-up with a carbon fiber version of the successful Evoline 3 model. This time, Shark decided to craft an Evoline 3 with an outer shell made from carbon fiber and aramid, saving weight and providing riders with gorgeous, racey looks at the same time.
The third generation of Evoline helmets
Like the name says it, the Evoline 3 is the third generation of modular helmets Shark delivers, and it retains the architecture and design which set it apart in the segment when it debuted.
While in the case of most modular helmets, the chin bar raises up and remains fixed in the forehead area, the Evoline transforms into a proper jet helmet. The chin protector rotates all the way to the back of the head, providing better aerodynamics and better looks. Evoline 3 received both P and J-clas homologation while UK's SHARP system awarded 5 safety stars out of 5.
Evoline 3 Carbon tips the scales at 1,610 grams (3.5 lb) and this makes it one of the light modular lids out there. For comparison, the standard thermoplastic resin Evoline 3 weighs 1750 grams (3.9 lb). Removable, washable interior, anti-scratch, anti-fog visor, a sun visor, and Bluetooth preparation are standard features for lids in this class.
Shark's new helmet is available in sizes XS through XL and comes with an "Auto-up" system which allows one-hand operation for simultaneously raising both chin piece and visor. Expect it to arrive in stores for around €500 ($530).
