At least five Formula 1 teams will attend this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, scheduled for July 8-11. There’s still time for others to join in, but even if they don’t, the event will maintain a tradition that’s been upheld since 1994. That’s when Williams, McLaren, and Arrows first drove up the Hill.
This year, the teams that have confirmed their presence are McLaren F1 Team, Red Bull Racing, Scuderia Ferrari, Williams Racing, and the current world champions, Mercedes-AMG Petronas. The 2021 Goodwood FoS takes place one week before the British Grand Prix (Silverstone).
The Festival of Speed will provide fans with a rare opportunity to see F1 cars and drivers live and up close this year, outside of a Grand Prix weekend. So, if you plan on visiting this year’s event, you’ll be able to enjoy “unrivaled access” watching the teams’ engineers prep the cars for the iconic Hillclimb.
“The glamour and spectacle of Formula 1 has become an intrinsic part of the Festival of Speed with so many legendary teams, drivers and cars attending over the years. We can’t wait to once again hear and see the cars running in anger up the Hill, delighting fans as only Grand Prix winners can,” said the Duke of Richmond, owner of The Goodwood Estate hosting the event.
Speaking of Grand Prix winners, further details will be announced in the coming weeks as far as which drivers will be attending the Festival of Speed.
As for other teams possibly joining the “party,” we can understand the absence of an Alphatauri or a Haas, but Aston Martin? That’s one outfit British fans would surely love to see on their home soil. Then again, teams will often run older cars for such events, and this is Aston Martin's first year back in Formula 1 ever since the 1960 season, so an older car for them today would literally mean a Racing Point.
