Several 2017 Porsche Panamera Prototypes Filmed Testing in Colorado

Porsche design language changes at a snail's pace, so this all-new Porsche Panamera looks like the old one. However, we assure you that no two elements are the same. The official debut of the 4-door is likely to take place at the Paris Motor Show this fall, meaning this is a very busy time for the test people.

Colorado is a prime testing location because of the altitude and what that does to the engines, but it's also where the guys at TFL do their reviews. Earlier this week, they managed to film an entire convoy of Panameras wearing only minimal camouflage.

The blue model is an S or even a GTS. As we said before, Porsche's aim seems to be to create something that looks like a 4-door 911 here. The taillight design is very similar, and so are the humps over the wheels.

However, several trademarks from the old Panamera have also been kept. For example, the rear wing still pops up and splits in two to make it wider.

The front end reminds us of the Panamera Sport Turismo concept of 2012. Defining features include a crease at the top of the grille and LED headlights with four points each.

Porsche and Audi are collaborating on a number of secret engineering projects. When the 2017 Panamera comes out, it will have an entirely new engine range, made up exclusively of V6 and V8 units. At least one model will be a plug-in hybrid and should be available at launch with something similar to what the Audi S4 has now: a turbocharged 3-liter.

One of the cars in the video is clearly the Turbo, which is rumored to get downsized to a 4.0-liter V8 engine with roughly the same output but better fuel economy.

In addition to the fastback model, Porsche is also making a shooting brake. This has been seen on several occasions in Europe, but not the US. Does that mean it will not be available? Only time will tell.
