Serena Williams’ foundation has recently organized a 3.1 miles run, a quarter marathon and a children’s event, all open to the public, and all the money raised went to charity, for different causes she supports.
In the past, her foundation has chosen to make the world a better place by building schools in Africa, funding scholarships in New York, and getting involved in the matter of gun-related problems on America’s streets.

Nothing out of the ordindary until now. However, some witnesses say they have seen the tennis star taking a taxi after she covered only 1.2 miles of the Serena Williams Ultimate Run South Beach 2015 and then rushing to the finish line, maybe not to risk any damage to her tennis form.

The reasons are not yet known, but most likely it all happened because of an older injury. Serena herself has stated that, because of the multiple injuries she suffered, she hasn't competed in any tennis tournament since October.

At least one of the Williams sisters managed to finish the run, though, as Venus crossed the line after 3.1 miles.

2015 was a tough year for the American player, who is currently ranked 1 overall in the world in women’s tennis. Also because of her former physical injuries, she was forced to retire from the final two big tournaments of 2015.

According to her, she played injured most of the year, whether it was the elbow, knee or even heart. This is another example that you can’t have good results and be one of the best in a specific sport without huge sacrifices.

Serena Williams has been recently chosen as one of 13 women to appear in the 2016 Pirelli Calendar. The tennis player posed nearly nude, just like the comedian Amy Schumer, Fran Lebowitz, Yoko Ono or rocker Patti Smith. It is for the first time in 43 years that the calendar includes women who are not professional models.
