The first name on the list is the very nephew of 3-time world champion Ayrton Senna, Bruno, who initially signed a deal with Campos GP for his F1 debut. However, with several reports suggesting the Spanish team is unlikely to make it to the 2010 grid, the Brazilian is now opened to new offers.
And he seems to be of interest for two teams out there. Unfortunately, one of them is yet to receive a Formula One entry from the FIA (Stefan GP) and the other one seems to be in the same situation as Campos (US F1). Additionally, the American team is also negotiating with former GP2 Series driver Adrian Valles for completing their lineup for 2010.
In the meantime, Stefan GP is also eyeing another driver for their second seat at Cologne – the first one will most likely be Kazuki Nakajima – in the person of Ralf Schumacher. Michael's brother is also strongly backed by F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone, who admitted he fancies a return of the Schumacher brothers in F1 this season.
Former F1 champion Jacques Villeneuve is also in race for an F1 return of his own, after admitting he is working hard to secure a deal for 2010. Unfortunately for him, the lack of sponsorship money will likely end his hopes pretty soon (we'd argue).
“I continue to work hard to explain to teams why it is a good idea to put me in their car and, frankly, I feel that the message is getting better and better. It is not always easy to be fighting against drivers who bring millions, but I am not afraid of a challenge,” said the 38-year old driver, according to ruefrontenac.com.
Other drivers positioned quite well in the F1 seat “hunt” are Christian Klien (who was reportedly very close to taking Vitaly Petrov's place at Renault), Andy Soucek and Romain Grosjean, who reportedly came up with plenty of sponsors for a potential F1 seat in 2010.
