SEMA Pontiac Customization Galore!

The SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show is the one chance a year to see the who's who of the tuning world flex their custom muscles in the spotlights, but lately even regular manufacturers are beginning to get into the game in that effort to give customers as many options as possible.

General Motors could have gone unnoticed and through its Pontiac brand has filled the SEMA stands with 3 new concepts, customized of course. All of them are variations of the G8 concept that's not even out in shops yet. Their names are as follows: the G8 GXP Street Concept, the G8 ST and the Solstice GXP Coupe. All of these have street versions coming out in 2009.

The GTX Street Concept is all about power with its LSX454 crate engine that delivers 638 hp (the original has only 415 hp). Other modifications to the model include a redone front and rear end, new rocker panels and front grilles, a rear diffuser and 20-inch racing wheels.

The Solstice GXP Coupe is also a powerful machine, with many modifications provided by Performance Parts, this time a Stage 2 performance kit and a performance air intake kit. This adds some 30 hp, making the grand total 290 hp which isn't half bad for a car this size. Also with more power in mind, the exhaust system was modified, with a cat-back system. The suspension was also upgraded to a race-ready model.

With the G8 ST Pontiac didn't go all out, on the contrary, keeping the original 6.0 liter V8 engine. The modified features basically refer to the visual look of the car. With a stance that is heavily reminiscent of the El Camino, the car hugs the ground more closely now with its lowered suspension and 20-inch wheels. The interior was also pimped with red leather inserts.
