Self-Moving Mechanical Models Prove Creativity Is 21st Century Safeguard

A start-up company founded last year is using laser-cut plywood tiny pieces to create mountable mechanical model kits that need no glue to be stuck together. An older tram that moves, a live theater with actors performing, a tractor with transmission options or a chronometer that can be set for 20 minutes are just some examples.

Not to sound in any way dramatic, but in times when various conflicts seem to worry the many, creativity is the one thing that simply can’t be altered into something destructive. Ugears is the fruit of a small team of innovators who seem to have only one job: create. The more ideas of machines they can design, the bigger the company’s offer is; it’s like fantasyland for engineers where, aside from the law of physics, there is no other boundary.

These unique mechanical 3D models for self-assembly without glue are made from natural materials and make for the delight of builders of any age. Whether it’s your kid learning basic mechanics, or it’s his father looking for new ways to feel less his age, it’s working in both directions.

“It's quite fascinating when unusual mechanical miracle comes to life in your hands, and you feel like a creator.” The company is based on this principle, and so far it has created ten models out of which one, a working locomotive, is exclusive to Kickstarter. Each of the kits has everything one needs to create: a few planks of high-quality plywood with carefully carved details, step by step instructions, and other additional elements.

You don’t even need to be passionate about mechanics to find these contraptions unique, considering the available models vary from the steam locomotive mentioned above to a tractor, timer, power meter, trailer, combine, casket, engine, and even a safe. Ugears is already delivering these models, but it wants to expand its staff of designers and launch new ones. The Kickstarter campaign should help the company’s founders to put as many as 100 new ideas into production.
