Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. A simple show that makes you laugh and also brings into the world of comedy with stories shared by Seinfeld and his friends.
The show was introduced four years ago, on Sony’s streaming service, Crackle. In the meantime, it has reached its eighth season, and the ninth is just around the corner. According to sources familiar with the topic, the show is on the market, as Mr. Seinfeld’s contract with Sony is about to expire.

As NY Times notes, the expiration of Jerry Seinfeld’s contract is not the biggest problem with Sony Pictures Entertainment keeping the “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” show, but the departure of one of Seinfeld’s longtime allies, Steve Mosko, from the company could lead to the show being moved to another platform.

Mr. Mosko was the chairman of Sony Pictures Television, and he left the company this June after 24 years. Crackle, the streaming service owned by Sony, was overseen by Steve Mosko, which is why some believe that Jerry Seinfeld’s show could be sold to other operators, including Netflix and Hulu.

We must note that the representatives of Hulu, Netflix, and Jerry Seinfeld’s spokesperson declined to comment the situation with NY Times. It also worth pointing out that Sony is a co-producer of the series, along with Mr. Seinfeld, which would mean that the company will continue to make money on the show even if it is aired somewhere else.

Multiple variants of potential deals are on the table, and they include moving all the old episodes to another platform, along with the new additions, as well as leaving the old ones on Crackle and showing the new ones on the potential streaming partner’s platform.

For the moment, this is just speculation, but we are sure that Jerry Seinfeld’s show about comedians that ride in his fabulous collection of cars to get coffee and have a stimulating conversation on the way will continue to entertain us online in one format or another.
