As we told you before, Toyota Racing South Africa will return in the 2014 Dakar Rally with two rebuilt Hilux pickups.
After you’ve seen how the vehicles were built earlier, Toyota now shows us some testing with the pickups in the Namib desert, where engineers and racing drivers had to collaborate in order to make important adjustments for the Hiluxes to be suitable for the next Dakar.
Despite the competition switching to turbocharged engines, Toyota decided to stick to its naturally-aspired 5-liter V8 that proved its worthwhile so far. Instead, the team focused on making the racecar’s structure more lighter and stronger to achieve greater accelerations and higher top speed.
Check how the testing sequence took place in the video bellow.
