Introduced in its civilian form no less than 35 years ago, the legendary Mercedes-Benz G-Class is the three-pointed star vehicle with the longest uninterrupted production span in history.
Considering that Mercedes-Benz's history more or less started as early as 1885, that's a pretty considerable time, so there must be something about the good ol' G-Wagen to make it that interesting for so long.
To keep it short, we bet that its design simplicity and go-anywhere attitude are the G-Class' best credentials, but it's much more than that, obviously.
First started as a military vehicle project as early as 1972, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class was from the beginning destined to conquer pretty much any terrain, be it desert, rocky mountain roads or small rivers.
As its undersides evolved over the years, it also became apparent that the faithful G-Wagen would also be used to drive at the opera or smoke sports cars from a stop light in its 63 AMG and 65 AMG guises, but its off-road spirit always remained the same.
If it wasn't obvious by now, we're pretty much infatuated with the Mercedes-Benz G-Class on this blog. It's either its Bauhaus design, its off-roading prowess or something in between, and that is why we always giggle with delight whenever we find footage of one being hooned the way it's supposed to be.
Shot somewhere in Russia, the following video is a perfect reason to start liking or even loving the G-Wagen, wouldn't you agree? That V8 exhaust sound isn't too bad either.
