The Brands Hatch race that took place this weekend wasn't as successful for BMW as it was over at Hockenheim. Unfortunately, the winner of the first race had technical problems and the other drivers had some bad luck too.
Bruno Spengler, the BMW Team Schnitzer driver was second across the finish line, in the BMW Bank M3 DTM car, the same position as last year. At the end of the 98 laps of 1.929 km, Mike Rockenfeller, of Audi claimed the top position and Robert Wickens finished third for Mercedes.

August Farfus had the worst of luck. After just 65 laps he had to retire due to a technical problem on the Castrol EDGE BMW M3 DTM. The second best placed BMW driver was Marco Wittman for BMW Team MTEK who claimed the fourth place.

Following these results, Rockenfeller climbed to the number 1 spot in the driver's competition (by just 1 point in front of Spengler), whilst BMW remains leader in the manufacturer's standings, with 101 points to its name.

“Runner-up Bruno Spengler and his team did an excellent job. I am also delighted for Marco Wittmann, whose fourth place in only his second DTM race shows what huge potential he possesses. Joey Hand, who finished fifth, also produced an impressive performance all weekend. Augusto Farfus, on the other hand, was unlucky," said Jens Marquardt, BMW Motorsport Director.
