The Tarraco represents the company's entry into the large crossover market, completing the lineup comprising of the Arona and Ateca. The official market launch will happen during the first months of 2019, but production has started, and we can give you a few technical details, beginning with the engine range.

This will comprise two types of diesel and two gasoline units. The base setup is a 1.5 TSI with 150 and 250 Nm, which will only be available with a manual and FWD. It will be capable of 0 to 100 km/h in 9.7 seconds and 201 km/h.

The equivalent diesel will be more expensive and 150 HP plus 340 Nm of torque. However, due to it being about 80 kilos heavier, the 0 to 100 km/h time will be 9.8 seconds. A 7-speed DSG will be optionally available.

Moving further up the range, we find two 190 horsepower 2-liter units, a diesel with 400 Nm and a TSI with 320. The larger petrol engine helps the Tarraco reach 100km/h in just 8.0 seconds and gives it a top speed of 211km/h. In about a year's time, the Tarraco will gain an FR sports trim level and the plug-in hybrid version that delivers 210 horsepower and uses the 1.5 TSI.

The large Tarraco will bring higher profit margins to the company, allowing it to cover 80% of vehicle segments in Europe. Between January and October 2018, the brand reached a total volume of 449,000 vehicles worldwide, which is 13.7% more than in the same period of 2017 (395,100).

It's a little bit longer than its sister models and debuts the Spanish brand's new design language, which is more serious and mature. The interior is particularly noteworthy because it has tablet-like infotainment. Our photo gallery also goes around the trim and the folding 3rd row of seats which will be standard in Britain.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
