SEAT Signs Its Biggest Fleet Deal with British Gas

Spanish carmaker SEAT announced its biggest fleet deal to date, as it is going to supply 500 new Leon Ecomotive vehicles to British Gas, the largest domestic energy supplier in the UK, with the first cars due to be delivered in early 2010.

At only 99 g/km in official tests, the new Leon Ecomotive is a full 20 g/km better than its predecessor thanks to the addition of Auto Start/Stop and energy recovery functions, along with the new 1.6-liter common rail diesel engine.

Modifications to the car’s five-speed gearbox also contribute to improving the fuel consumption figures. Furthermore, the vehicle has been equipped with SEAT’s recommended gear indicator device, which displays the most appropriate gear for the driving conditions.

“SEAT has taken an industry-leading approach; innovative, flexible and way ahead of anyone else involved in the tender process,” said Colin Marriott, fleet manager at British Gas. “This is a fantastic addition to our fleet and the additional advanced engineering features help us to continue to lead the way on reducing emissions.”
