The Spanish variant of Volkswagen’s Up City car, the Mii, is only a marginally successful model. Having not at all encouraging sales and at the same time offering a very complex trim levels and options scheme, the Mii must be making little financial sense.
Because of this, SEAT announced this week a major revamp of the nameplate. First, the car will from now on be offered only in its 5-door configuration. Despite not explicitly saying so, the decision was likely made due to the reduced success of three-door variant.
As far as trim levels go, the Mii will be available in only three versions, Style, Chic and FR Line. All will benefit, say the Spaniards, from more equipment as standard.
The Style version will be offering extra as compared to the entry-level trim on the market until now an infotainment system and air conditioning.
The Chic builds on that by adding 15-inch alloy wheels, black greenhouse, steering wheel and gear knob in leather, BeatsAudio, chrome sidebars, and atom grey external mirrors. The range-topping FR Line comes with 16 inch alloy wheels and sports suspension.
For all three variants, SEAT will be providing an equal number of special equipment packages: Easy Flex, Winter Pack and Sensoric Pack. Easy Flex means a double boot floor, seat adjustment and a hook in the glove box, Winter Pack translates into heated seats, electric and heated exterior mirrors and the Sensoric one adds cruise control, rear parking sensors, rain and light sensors.
There will be no changes made to the engine lineup. The Mii will continue to be offered with the 1-liter unit with two outputs (60 PS and 75 PS, respectively), and the 1-liter, 68 PS CNG engine. All are paired to a five-speed manual gearbox, with a five-speed auto available for the 75 ps version.
