SEAT Prostyle SUV Will Be the First of 4 New Models Coming Until 2017

We don't want to beat our own drum here, but back in November 2014, we predicted that the SEAT SUV previewed by the 20v20 concept will be called Prostyle.

Today, our information has been confirmed by the SEAT Fans Club. Their story states that the Spanish carmaker will launch four different models in the next two years.

The first will be the Prostyle, which is the company's first Sports Activity Vehicle. Said to debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2016, it will be underpinned by the MQB platform and will be assembled at one of Skoda's factories in the Czech Republic. A variety of engines will be available, including the weird little 1.4 TDI three-cylinder diesel from the Polo facelift.

The next to appear will be the Leon facelift, which will be dropped at the Paris Motor Show in September 2016. We're talking about a whole range of models, from 3-door coupés to crossover-wagons, so it's going to be a big show.

After that, SEAT engineers will be free to work on the successor to the Ibiza and the upcoming B-segment crossover. So far, it's on track for a 2017 appearance, but nobody has yet seen one.

Volkswagen recently announced a huge investment plan worth billions of euros because it wants to catch up in the B-segment crossover market. Other companies like Opel, Renault and Peugeot have developed their much sooner and are doing well in terms of sales.

With German cash and Spanish design, the yet unnamed "Ibiza SUV" will use the MQB platform. The vehicle should be somewhere around 4.2 meters long, but we're not sure if it will come with AWD.

What we can tell you is that a lot of 3-cylinder engines will be offered, starting with the 1.0 TDI and ending with the 1.4 TDI we mentioned above.

So far, SEAT customers haven't shown any interest in the plug-in hybrid technology, so none of these cars will go electric.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
