Volkswagen Group is clearly broadening its range of performance models, as new suspension technology and efficient engines mean Golf GTIs can be as comfortable as any other car.
The Germans have already revealed their new Golf GTI, which is on sale right now, while Skoda has only just shown the Octavia RS at Goodwood last month. But Spanish carmaker SEAT has yet to put its 2-liter TSI hatch on the market.
It's believed that of the three, the Leon Curpra will be the most powerful and sporty and they are even planning an estate version of the car. This model is believed to have somewhere around 260 horsepower, based on recent reports, but SEAT is also planning a Cupra R with even more go-fast juice.
According to Autocar, this will still have a 2.0 TSI engine, but it will make 300 horsepower, like the one used by Audi in their S3. The would be paired with a DSG6 gearbox, all-wheel drive and a launch control system to make the fastest SEAT ever. 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds is not beyond the realm of reason with this car.
You don't need all that to have fun in a car and the nornal Cupra will do you just fine, but there's nothing quite like having the best SEAT ever.
