We suppose hybrids will soon have a much tougher time braking into the European market, since VW Group has started rolling out a bunch of city runabouts that do 4 L/100km and cost about €10,000. Today, one more has joined the fray, as Spanish brand SEAT has revealed its five-door version of the Mii.
Despite the act that the Mii is only 3.56 meters long, the photos reveal there is indeed some room in the back for an adult. You’re not going to take a trip around the world in one, but an average Sunday drive with some friends should be no problem.
But the true strength of this car is in its economy, especially in Mii Ecomotive form, where it gets start/stop system, brake energy recovery and other measures to improve fuel economy.
“The new Mii has enjoyed a terrific start. Customer response in Spain is outstanding and we are now bringing the entire line-up to the other European markets – complete with the three-door, five-door and Ecomotive versions,” says James Muir, President of SEAT. “With its distinctive SEAT identity, its youthful design and its high quality standards, the five-door i in particular is set to capture a significant share of the sub-compact segment. This makes the Mii an important factor in our corporate strategy. The Mii marks the start of the most extensive model offensive ever undertaken by SEAT.”
