SEAT Leon Cupra 280 PS Gets Milltek Performance Exhaust

There's a little rumor going around the hot hatch scene right now that suggests the Leon Cupra 280 is actually the best car you can buy because it's fast on the road and fun on the track. And who's to say you can't make the best a little better by adding a custom set of blow-horns onto that mighty 280 horsepower 2-liter turbo engine.

Today, Milltek Sport revealed the bolt-on exhaust system it has developed for the 280 horsepower version of the 2.0 TSI. They've also worked on the mechanically similar 300 horsepower version that powers the Golf R, so the result is clean and well engineered.

The system is made by hand at their factory in Britain using only Type-304 stainless steel. In order to increase gas flow, Milltek has chosen to use 3-inch pipe (76.2 mm). This maximizes power and torque, but without producing resonance into the cabin at normal motorway speeds.

The standard system was developed to meet the so-called TÜV certification, which imposes certain restrictions on noise levels. Here, Milltek focused on "clarity, quality and tone their system produces." There's also a cat-back system that offers more power gains, ideal for racing applications, but not road-legal.

Fans of the Leon Cupra will have probably already noticed that there's something different at the back of the car. When it leaves the factory, this speed machine has one oval pipe on each side. Millltek knows that looks matter, so they give customers more choice: either Quad Round GT80 tips or Dual Oval. Both styles are available with either the shiny Polished finish you see in these photos or in the stealthy Charcoal Black Velvet finish.

If you want to know how this aftermarket exhaust would fit your car or simply want to peek under the skirt of this sexy Spanish car, make sure to check out the photo gallery below. We'd go for the quad system – easy choice.
