The 2-liter TSI/TFSI developed for MQB performance vehicles is responsible for numerous hair-raising moments. We've seen track battles between the AWD Golf R and the FWD Leon Cupra, as well as Golf GTIs that can humiliate V8 Mustangs.
However, we're more interested in the true performance potential of the engine today. Tuners like ABT and MTM have taken the 2-liter turbo to the 400 PS mark, but Abu Dhabi shop PP-Performance just announced they extracted 430 PS. A SEAT Leon with as much oomph as a BMW M3 is just… wow!

Their project car was a SEAT Leon Cupra, which in stock guise makes 280 PS. It has undergone some serious mods, which include a PP-Performance ECU software, TurboBack exhaust with 3-inch pipes and a larger turbocharger.

Besides making 150 PS more than in stock guise, the Leon Cupra also boasts a V8-like 530 Nm of torque (390 lb-ft). For the record, you only get 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) in standard guise.

The SEAT Leon Cupra is available from €32,560 in Germany with a 265 PS engine and a 6-speed manual gearbox. The DSG gearbox adds another €1,700. Spain's biggest automaker sells its hot hatch as a 3-door coupe, a 5-door hatch and a wagon, with prices increasing exponentially.

In March 2014, the Cupra was declared the fastest FWD hot hatch to go around the Nurburgring track. However, it was soon after outclassed by the Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy R. Honda's 320 PS Civic Type R is also faster. But who knows, maybe this 430 PS model will reclaim the title.
