Volkswagen Group is doing weird things with the supermini hot hatch segment. Audi has introduced a 2-liter turbo S1 model to the range with a high cost of €30,000, while Volkswagen has made the Polo GTI better by dropping the 1.4 TSI in favor of a bigger 1.8 TSI.
Since Skoda has dropped the Fabia vRS like a smelly, slow-selling fish, SEAT is the only company that currently still uses the old 1.4 TSI on the pocket rocket. We'll remind you that this engine is no ordinary one, since it packs a supercharger and turbocharger to deliver 180 hp. Complicated and in some cases unreliable, it's been phased out or replaced by the bigger 1.8.

We've just learned that dealers in Spain are offering huge saving on the Ibiza Cupra. From 22,800 euros, the price has dropped down to just €18,500, according to Autofacil.es. That's huge and it worries us that they might pull it from production soon.

If you don't think €18,500 for a fast SEAT is cheap, consider how much stuff you're getting: bi-xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, fog lights, 17-inch alloys and a standard DSG gearbox.

The Ibiza Cupra isn't as engaging to drive as the Ford Fiesta ST, but it's more comfortable and technologically advanced. Performance is about the same, as the 1.4-liter turbo takes you from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 228 km/h.

In 2010, this car was every boy racer's dream and now you can have it for €4,000, which is huge. Happy 30th birthday, Ibiza!

The huge savings offer expires at the end of 2014, but we have a feeling they will continue to offer it cheaply even after that.
