SEAT Details China Offensive

The 2012 Beijing Auto Show marks the beginning of what will hopefully be a new chapter for Spanish carmaker SEAT, as the Iberian company plans a major offensive in China, starting with eight of the biggest showrooms planted in major cities and 15 smaller outlets by the end of 2012.
Vehicles sold in China will be produced in Europe, starting with the Leon then followed later this year by the new Ibiza. Given these will be experts, SEAT is keen to play the premium game to justify higher asking prices so the showrooms will be state-of-the-art and customers will get up close and personal with the cars.

Those cities selected are deemed to hold a high potential for the Spanish brand - Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Suzhou, Wuhan and Zhengzhou. This summer, showrooms will open in Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Nanning, Xi’an and Xiamen, not forgetting of course Beijing and Shanghai, which are scheduled to follow.

A number of showrooms were opened yesterday, as the automaker was showing its concepts in Beijing. What’s more, the first Leons have already been delivered to customers.

“China is very important for SEAT.  Our offensive on this growth market is a further stepping stone in the development of the brand and just as important as our investment in the highly attractive, new products that we will introduce in the near future,” says James Muir, Chairman of SEAT. “The car market in China is continuing to develop at a very rapid pace and there is a growing demand, particularly among young buyers, for premium, sporty vehicles that are differentiated by a clear and individual design language.  This is where SEAT delivers a unique product offering and this is where we will be successful.”
