SEAT Debuts 3 New WRC Cars at the Rally Catalunya

Spanish carmaker SEAT revealed that three new WRC cars will debut this weekend at the Rally Catalunya, namely the Ibiza Bocanegra, Leon Cupra and Exeo. Moreover, SEAT is also providing race organizer RACC with 86 cars to assist with the coordination of the race.

The Rally RACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada, the eleventh round of the World Rally Championship will be held from 1 to 4 October on roads in the province of Tarragona, with the race scheduled to begin at eight in the morning on Friday and finish at three in the afternoon on Sunday.

There are nine stages that will each be raced twice, and spectators at each of the eighteen stages will be able to see SEAT’s three newest launches as they drive by.

The three ‘zero’ cars will be used on the track prior to the race competitors, in order to check the safety measures of the road and that the spectators are in a safe viewing position.

Once the check is complete, the course will be of course closed to traffic. The first car making its appearance in front of the viewers will be the 200 hp SEAT Exeo TSI as the '000' car.

The '000' will be followed by the 240 hp Leon Cupra as the '00' car, and finally the 180 hp Ibiza Cupra Bocanegra as the '0' car, equipped with a seven-speed DSG gearbox and piloted by Joan Vinyes.

The Andorran driver is, in fact, the one who won the first edition of the SEAT Leon Supercopa in 2002.
