Have you ever wonder how life would be if we could buy cars online? And no, I’m not referring to new vehicles bought from a dealer’s website, nor an online reservation gimmick. Of all names in the biz, SEAT teamed up with Amazon France to sell 15 cars.
As you can see in the featured screenshot, the endeavor only applies to Amazon France. The mechanism is simple: if you’re in the market for a SEAT Mii by Mango Limited Edition, all you have to do is pay up €500 by card on Amazon.fr, then wait for a salesperson to contact you to finalize the deal. According to SEAT France, it takes a maximum of 72 hours for your car to be delivered from the confirmation of the full payment (that would be €10,990).

That’s a pretty interesting way for a manufacturer to sell its cars, I’d say, one that makes a lot of sense in the era of fast food, fast credit, and fast-paced living. Truth be told, this isn’t merely a marketing stunt. We live in a world where most new car buyers begin their search online. If you, as an automaker, create the proper environment for the prospective buyer, this automatically translates into better chances at making a successful sale.

All 15 units of the Mii by Mango Limited Edition vended via Amazon France feature three special exterior finishes (Atom Glossy, Intense Black, or Glam Beige), 15-inch dark grey wheels, Velvet door mirrors, leather on the gear knob and steering wheel, as well as two-tone seats. In terms of motivation, I’m afraid this is merely a run-of-the-mill 2017 SEAT Mii under the skin.

Essentially the Spanish brother of the Volkswagen Up! and Skoda Citigo, the SEAT Mii in Mango overalls makes use of three cylinders, 60 PS (59 hp), and a manual transmission. Those aren’t mind-boggling specs, but then again, don’t forget that Europeans sure love their city cars to be underpowered.
