Not exactly a secret before the official announcement, Scott Redding's recent deal with Honda Gresini will have the Brit riding a production racer machine, at least in the first year of the contract.
Redding has massive support from HRC and got a 2-year contract with the satellite team run by former racer Fausto Gresini. The team will have him riding the RCV1000R production racer in 2014, with the main objectives most likely being getting used to riding a premiere class machine and learning how the Bridgestone rubber works.
Asphalt & Rubber also claims that Gresini has plans to have Redding riding a factory-spec bike in 2015, possibly. What's really nice for Redding's deal is that he gets to race with the MotoGP standard brakes and suspensions, namely Brembo and Öhlins, unlike his team mate Alvaro Bautista, whose bike is loaded with Honda's Showa suspensions and Nissin brakes.
However, seeing Bautista riding very consistently during the last 5 races might tell us that Honda-owned brands Showa and Nissin are making a decent progress in MotoGP, too.
Now that Redding went Honda, we're waiting for the NGM to make their call as to who will be aboard their second Yamaha M1-powered machine, with Colin Edwards being most likely already in the books.
Scott Redding is currently enjoying the 1st position in the Moto2 rankings, a hedt 38-point lead on Pol Espargaro, who will replace Cal Crutchlow at Tech3 Yamaha.
