Scion xB: Built for Teens, Drove by Elderly - Regular Car Reviews

Aaah... the unmistakable Scion xB - the 4.2 meters box designed to attract young buyers but kinda failed, especially after 2010 when US sales fell to around 17,000 units per year.

Based on the Japanese Toyota bB, the Scion xB was introduced on the US market in 2003, coming with a boxy minimalistic design, five doors, front-wheel-drive and around 108 hp.

Despite its kei car look, the first generation xB measured 155.3 inch in length, 66.5 inch in width and 64.6 in height, making it a subcompact and changing its status to compact in 2008 when it grew a bit more.

With a ‘modern’ minimalistic design along with some funky colors, the Scion xB was dedicated to young drivers, like teenagers which just got their license or small young families.

Some found it nice for shopping, others have painted it in crazy colors and slammed it to the ground as they saw in Japan, but most of them ended up in the driveway of over-50-year-old drivers with arthritis or university professors with a little more imagination past the Corolla.

What arthritis has to do with this car? Well, one of the advantages that comes around with its boxy shape is the easiness you can get out of it, which suits elderly people. But these and more in Regular Car Review’s newest take on the second generation Scion xB bellow.
