Scion Will Get New Cars Starting Next Year

We all know that Scion isn’t doing quite so well now, with only the FR-S and refreshed tC models keeping it floating for the moment. Its xB and xD models are seven years old, while the iQ never met its sales expectancies. But Scion recently said this will change by finally adding more to its lineup.

Scion boss Doug Murtha recently told WarsAuto that three new models are coming up next year. However, don’t jump from your seat so fast, because he also said they won’t be radically different.

“There’s no intention to radically shift the direction of the brand,” Murtha says, confirming the first new model from Scion will be unveiled at the Los Angeles auto show in November. “These aren’t mid-cycle refreshes of anything in the lineup,” he adds. “They are three major changes.”

Strangely though, it has been said the new Scion models won’t be fitted with Toyota’s new thermal-efficient engines and may have to wait a bit longer.

Whatever the new cars will be, we really hope they will replace or at least enhance the dust-collecting xB and xD (this really looks like an emoticon, right?) and put something else in the place of the dead iQ. So expect some compact, cheap to run, but better equipped and youth oriented cars starting 2015.

Scion however, does not entirely exclude the possibility of entering the market with a car above their top-range $25,000 FR-S (Toyota GT 86).
